The Epistle
Tuesday of the 28th Week
Prokeimenon. Mode pl. 4. Psalm 65.
Let all the earth worship You and sing to You; let them sing to Your name. [SAAS]
Verse: Shout to God, all the earth. [SAAS]
The reading is from Paul’s Second Letter to Timothy.
2 Tim. 3:16 – 17; 4:1 – 4
Timothy, my son, all scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. I charge you in the presence of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word, be urgent in season and out of season, convince, rebuke, and exhort, be unfailing in patience and in teaching. For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own likings, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander into myths. [RSV]
Alleluia. Mode 1. Psalm 18.
Alleluia. Alleluia. Alleluia.
Verse 1: The heavens declare the glory of God; the firmament shows the creation of His hands. [SAAS]
Alleluia. Alleluia. Alleluia.
Verse 2: Day to day utters speech, and night to night reveals knowledge.
Alleluia. Alleluia. Alleluia.
The Gospel
(Previously skipped.)
Saturday of the 14th Week of Luke
The reading is from the holy Gospel according to Luke.
Lk. 16:10 – 15
The Lord said, “He who is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much; and he who is dishonest in a very little is dishonest also in much. If then you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will entrust to you the true riches? And if you have not been faithful in that which is another’s, who will give you that which is your own? No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.” The Pharisees, who were lovers of money, heard all this, and they scoffed at him. But he said to them, “You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts; for what is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God.” [RSV]
Hymn to the Theotokos.
Ode ix. Heirmos.

O my soul, magnify the ever-virgin Maid who from the curse has redeemed us. [SD]
Easier for us is from fear to love silence, * free of any peril as it is, O Virgin; * whereas to weave stirring hymns out of longing * in earnest, is difficult. Therefore, O Mother, * give us strength to match our volition, we pray you. [SD]
Communion Hymn. Psalm 110.
The Lord sent redemption to His people. [SAAS] Alleluia.
Hymn after Holy Communion.
Instead of “We have seen.”
