That offspring of Evia and Elder of all of Greece, * the mystic of theology and genuine friend of Christ, * Porphyrios, was filled with gifts of grace * from childhood. So let us honor him. * He delivers those oppressed by demons, he cures the sick who shout with faith and gratitude: * “Glory to Him who gave you His might; * glory to Him who sanctified you; * glory to Him who through you is working cures for all.” [SD]

When Gabriel had said to you, “Rejoice!” blessed Virgin, * and you had voiced your assent, the Lord of all became incarnate * in you, who became the holy Ark, * as righteous King David said of old. * You carried your Creator, and thus your womb was wider than the heavens. * Glory to Him who dwelt inside of you! * Glory to Him who came forth from You! * Glory to Him who through your childbirth has set us free!
The Lord said to his disciples, “All things have been delivered to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and any one to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” [RSV]

Psalm 50 (51).
Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your great mercy; and according to the abundance of Your compassion, blot out my transgression. Wash me thoroughly from my lawlessness and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my lawlessness, and my sin is always before me. Against You only have I sinned and done evil in Your sight; that You may be justified in Your words, and overcome when You are judged. For behold, I was conceived in transgressions, and in sins my mother bore me. Behold, You love truth; You showed me the unknown and secret things of Your wisdom. You shall sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be cleansed; You shall wash me, and I will be made whiter than snow. You shall make me hear joy and gladness; my bones that were humbled shall greatly rejoice. Turn Your face from my sins, and blot out all my transgressions. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me with Your guiding Spirit. I will teach transgressors Your ways, and the ungodly shall turn back to You. Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, the God of my salvation, and my tongue shall greatly rejoice in Your righteousness. O Lord, You shall open my lips, and my mouth will declare Your praise. For if You desired sacrifice, I would give it; You will not be pleased with whole burnt offerings. A sacrifice to God is a broken spirit, a broken and humbled heart God will not despise. Do good, O Lord, in Your good pleasure to Zion, and let the walls of Jerusalem be built; then You will be pleased with a sacrifice of righteousness, with offerings and whole burnt offerings; then shall they offer young bulls on Your altar.
You renounced the worldly delights, O wise St. Porphyrios, and from Christ God you have received the heavenly delights, as a reward for your labors. Indeed you were an emulator of the saints, and you led your life in purity of heart and profound humility. With the gentleness, for which you were known, you led many people to Christ, and in Him you shined like the sun, to the glory of God who glorified you splendidly. [SD]

You were observed to be a faucet of healings, * treas’ry of gifts of grace, an equal to angels, * a model most exemplary and faithful guide of priests, * paramount of those who strive in the desert for virtue, * prominent of those who thrive in world as ascetics. * O holy father, now in heaven as you stand * near Christ the Savior, entreat Him to save our souls. O humble sinners, let us now run in earnest * unto the Theotokos, and in repentance * fall down to her and cry out from the depths of our souls: * Show compassion unto us * and provide your assistance. * Hasten; we are perishing * in our many transgressions. * Turn not your servants empty-handed away; * for we have found you, O Lady, our only hope. Praise Him for His mighty acts; praise Him according to the abundance of His greatness. [SAAS]
What a paradoxal miracle! * On Athos while yet a boy, * like a man you brought down the pride * of the devil’s insolence, * and for this you were crowned with grace. * While yet a boy you evinced the elders’ ken * and imitated the angels’ way of life. * Then you received divine * gifts as if a spiritual porphyrous robe, * O beloved by God devout father Porphyrios.

What a paradoxal miracle! * By your clairvoyance, O Saint, * you perceived what was hid from men; as a prophet you foresaw * and foretold of events to come. * With many miracles you astounded all, * and you exposed diabolical deceit. * Curing all illnesses, * you became a refuge for the sick and weak, * a support for the disturbed, O father, graced by God. What a paradoxal miracle! * Once you astonishingly * did partake of the mysteries, * the body and blood of Christ, * even though you were far from church; * by hands of angels you truly did receive * the divine ember, consuming it indeed. * Those who were with you then, * O devout and holy father, were amazed * by your mystical communion and gave glory to God. Devout father, when you accepted the calling from God, you led a life of labors and grief, looking toward your homeland on high. You were exalted because of your profound humility, for which you received a wealth of spiritual gifts, and you used them to cure ailments and diseases. You received prophetic revelations; and with spiritual insight you disclosed mysteries, and this greatly astounded everyone. And now, O Porphyrios, the glory of monastics and the comrade of the saints, together with them pray insistently to Christ, and entreat Him to have mercy on our souls. [SD]

Holy Lord, who dwell in the highest and look upon the humble and observe all creation with Your all-seeing eye, to You we bow the neck of soul and body, and we pray You, Holy of holies: Extend Your invisible hand from Your holy heavens and bless us all. And as good and benevolent God, forgive us any misdeeds we committed voluntarily or involuntarily, and grant us Your blessings in this world and in the next.
