Σήμερον τῆς εὐδοκίας Θεοῦ τὸ προοίμιον, καὶ τῆς τῶν ἀνθρώπων σωτηρίας ἡ προκήρυξις. Ἐν Ναῷ τοῦ Θεοῦ τρανῶς ἡ Παρθένος δείκνυται, καὶ τὸν Χριστὸν τοῖς πᾶσι προκαταγγέλλεται. Αὐτῇ καὶ ἡμεῖς μεγαλοφώνως βοήσωμεν· Χαῖρε τῆς οἰκονομίας τοῦ Κτίστου ἡ ἐκπλήρωσις.

Today is the prelude of God’s good pleasure, and the proclamation of humanity’s salvation. In the temple of God, the Virgin is presented openly, and in herself she announces Christ to all. Let us, then, with a great voice cry aloud to her: “Rejoice, you are the fulfillment of the Creator’s dispensation.” [SD]

Remembering our all-holy, immaculate, most blessed, and glorious Lady, the Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary, with all the saints, let us commend ourselves and one another and our whole life to Christ our God.

Ὁ ὑψωθεὶς ἐν τῷ Σταυρῷ.

Τὴν νυμφευθεῖσαν, τῷ Χριστῷ ἑκουσίως, καὶ στολισθεῖσαν, ἀρεταῖς τὴν καρδίαν, θεοπρεπῶς ὑμνήσωμεν Πιστῶν ἡ πληθύς· αὕτη γὰρ κατήσχυνεν, Ἀλμακίου τὸ θράσος, λάμψασα ὡς ἥλιος, μέσον τῶν ἐκζητούντων, καὶ μετὰ ταῦτα ὤφθη τοῖς ἐν γῇ, στήριγμα θεῖον, τὴν πίστιν κρατύνασα.

O congregation of believers, let us solemnly extol St. Cicely, who adorned her heart with virtue, and willingly wed herself to Christ. For when she shined like the sun amidst those who sought her, she humiliated the conceit of Almacius. Then she appeared to those on earth as a divine support, having kept the faith. [SD]

Worthy of wonder is how the ability to do prodigious, astonishing and great miracles has been given to the Saints, as a beginning of a good hope. Such was the virtue of the holy virgin Cicely, and her unsullied splendor; and how she stripped for the contest and eluded the prince of darkness; she ran to wrestle the foe, and she was strengthened and remained standing. And we declare that the facts of this miracle are true, how for Christ she struck Belial with her heal, having kept the faith. [SD]

Τῇ ΚΒʹ τοῦ αὐτοῦ μηνὸς μνήμη τῶν ἁγίων Ἀποστόλων, ἐκ τῶν Ἑβδομήκοντα, Φιλήμονος, Ἀρχίππου, Ἀπφίας καὶ Ὀνησίμου, μαθητῶν γεγονότων Παύλου τοῦ Ἀποστόλου.

On November 22, we commemorate the holy Apostles of the Seventy, Philemon, Archippus, Apphia and Onesimus, who were disciples of the Apostle Paul.
