Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. [RSV]

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. [RSV]

Adam fell by a tree, and he was evicted from Paradise. * By the tree of the Cross the Robber gained entrance to Paradise. * The former, by tasting fruit, disobeyed his Maker’s commandment not to eat. * The latter was crucified with Him, whom though hidden he confessed to be God. * Remember us as well in Your kingdom, O Savior. [SD]

Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. [RSV]

Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. [RSV]

I have sinned upon the earth * more than any person, and I’m afraid * of the court on Judgment Day, * for it will be final and infallible. * O Lord, good and merciful, * I implore You, hold me then as one not condemned * and save me from punishment by giving me time to repent and wash away * every stain and spot of sin, in Your benevolence. [GOASD]

Blessed are you when men revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely [for my sake]. [RSV]

Blessed are you when men revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely [for my sake]. [RSV]

Cherubim and Seraphim * Archangels and Thrones and Authorities * and Dominions and the hosts * of the holy Angels together with * sublime Principalities: * standing near the Master, entreat Him that He grant * forgiveness of sins and the correction of life to us who faithfully cry out: * “Remember us as well in Your kingdom, O Savior!” [GOASD]

Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven. [RSV]

Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven. [RSV]

For the Martyrs.

As you went into the fire, * you burned up deception like kindling wood, * O all-lauded Saints of Christ. * In the tidal wave of your sacred blood, * you drowned the infernal dragon utterly, O medaled Athletes of the Lord. * And claiming the victory, * you now join the hosts in the heights and celebrate, * interceding earnestly on behalf of our souls. [GOASD]

Utukufu.

Glory.

O divine tri-solar Light, * that illuminates the entire world, * drive far away from my soul * the dreadful passions and send down to me * the spark of Your holy light * and forgiveness of sins, that I may cry to You, * the Father unoriginate, the coequal Son and the Holy Spirit: * Omnificent power, Holy Trinity, save us! [GOASD]

Sasa. Wimbo wa Mzazi-Mungu

Both now. Theotokion.

I am sinning all the time, * and I am controlled by my laziness. * Lady, take pity on me, * as I implore you, grant to my hardened soul * compunction; and by the ways * of repentance, make me improve, O Virgin pure. * For you are our hope that never fails. We extol you with love and pray to Christ: * “Remember us as well in Your kingdom, O Savior!” [GOASD]

Mstari

Verse: Bless the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, You are magnified exceedingly. [SAAS]

Somo kutoka kwa Paul’s Letter to the Colossians.

The reading is from Paul’s Letter to the Colossians.

Col. 2:13 – 20

Col. 2:13 – 20

Brethren, when you who were dead in trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, Christ made you alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, having canceled the bond which stood against us with its legal demands; this he set aside, nailing it to the cross. He disarmed the principalities and powers and made a public example of them, triumphing over them in it. Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food or drink or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a sabbath. These are only a shadow of what is to come; but the body belongs to Christ. Let no one disqualify you, insisting on self-abasement and worship of angels, dwelling on things he has not seen, puffed up without reason by his sensuous mind, and not holding fast to the Head, from whom the whole body, nourished and knit together through its joints and ligaments, grows with a growth that is from God. If with Christ you died to the elemental principles of the world, why do you live as if you still belonged to the world? Why do you submit to regulations? [RSV]

Monday of the 10th Week of Luke

Monday of the 10th Week of Luke

Injili Takatifu kama ilivyoandikwa na Luke.

The reading is from the holy Gospel according to Luke.

Lk. 17:20 – 25

Lk. 17:20 – 25

At that time, when Jesus was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God was coming, he answered them, “The kingdom of God is not coming with signs to be observed; nor will they say, ‘Lo, here it is!’ or ‘There!’ for behold, the kingdom of God is in the midst of you.” And he said to the disciples, “The days are coming when you will desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and you will not see it. And they will say to you, ‘Lo, there!’ or ‘Lo, here!’ Do not go, do not follow them. For as the lightning flashes and lights up the sky from one side to the other, so will the Son of man be in his day. But first he must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation.” [RSV]
