Mode pl. 4.
Beacon of Orthodox belief, the strong support of the Church and her teacher inspired by God, you are the ornament of monks, the unassailable champion of theologians, O Gregory the Wonder-worker and the boast of Thessalonica, the messenger of grace. Forever earnestly entreat for the salvation of our souls. [SD]
An optional alternative to the Antiphons are the Typika (Psalms 102 and 145), and the Beatitudes with the appointed troparia, which are provided here.
Psalm 102.
Psalm 145.
The Beatitudes.
Mode 1.
In Your kingdom. Remember us, O Lord, when You come in Your kingdom. Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven [RSV]
Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. [RSV]
Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. [RSV]
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. [RSV]
Canon 2 for the Saint.
Ode iii. Mode 1. As You are the only One.
Menaion Supplement - - -
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. [RSV]
O wise one, the wisdom of the world * did you consider foolishness, and thus you loved the foolishness of the Cross. * Taking it up on your shoulders you displayed, * that this show of foolishness * is indeed superior * to the wisdom of the world, as Paul once said. [SD]
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. [RSV]
O Father, you loved with all your soul * humility and poverty, the simple life devoid of all luxury. * Therefore you always pursued the wilderness, *fleeing human company, * crying unto Christ: I shall * for the smell of Your ointments run after You. [SD]
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. [RSV]
O wise one, through watchfulness of soul * and self-control in everything, you put to death the old and corrupted man, * and donned the new man. And having bathed anew * in the fountains of your tears * throughout life, have you received * the original beauty you had in Christ. [SD]
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. [RSV]
Theotokion.
Since you have beheld the Spirit’s light * for which you longed, O Gregory, under the Theotokos’s patronage, * and are illumined by it now openly, * earnestly entreating her, * pray that she deliver us * from the darkness of passions by the light of grace. [SD]
Canon 2 for the Saint.
Menaion Supplement - - -
Ode vi. Mode 1. Such as it received.
Blessed are you when men revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely [for my sake]. [RSV]
Your most holy life * is viewed by the faithful as a standard of virtue, father Gregory; * and your written words * are accepted as stating the Orthodox faith. * And your dogmas have distinguished what is true or false * theologically, for they proclaim * one and only almighty, uncreated God. [GOASD]
Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven. [RSV]
Gregory is great, * for he has declared to us the Orthodox doctrine that the Godhead is one, * and in persons three, * one in nature, the same operations throughout, * uncreated, simple essence of divinity; * By his words he deftly put to shame * all who foolishly spoke of a created God. [GOASD]
Glory.
Since you have produced * inspired dogmatic formulations and also brilliant homilies, * by which you expand * on the thoughts of divine theologians of old, * by your prayers keep these doctrines safe from tampering, * Gregory, and rid the Church of Christ * of all scandal and schism and heresy. [GOASD]
Both now. Theotokion.
Lady, you surmount * the Thrones and the Cherubim, the Powers and all of the celestial hosts, * in that you became * the ineffable throne of the the Son God. * For you bore Him and He sat in your maternal lap. * Intercede with Him on our behalf * to forgive us who faithfully honor you. [GOASD]

The Savior’s most pure and immaculate temple, the very precious bridal chamber and Virgin, who is the sacred treasure of the glory of God, on this day is introduced into the House of the Lord, and with herself she brings the grace in the divine Spirit. The reading is from Paul’s First Letter to the Corinthians.
1 Cor. 12:7 – 11
Brethren, to each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. To one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. All these are inspired by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills. [RSV]

The Gospel
For the Saint.
The reading is from the holy Gospel according to John.
Jn. 10:9 – 16
The Lord said, “I am the door; if any one enters by me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. He who is a hireling and not a shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf snatches them and scatters them. He flees because he is a hireling and cares nothing for the sheep. I am the good shepherd; I know my own and my own know me, as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep. And I have other sheep, that are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will heed my voice. So there shall be one flock, one shepherd.” [RSV]
Hymn to the Theotokos.
It is truly right to bless you, Theotokos, ever blessed, most pure, and Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, without corruption you gave birth to God the Logos. We magnify you, the true Theotokos.
Communion Hymn. Psalm 111/112.
The righteous will be remembered for ever. [RSV] Alleluia.
Hymn after Holy Communion.
Mode 2.
We have seen the true light; we have received the heavenly Spirit; we have found the true faith, worshiping the undivided Trinity, for the Trinity has saved us.
