You were enriched by the mind of Christ ⁄ and through your pure life you became a Savior, ⁄ a reteller and cause of the salvation of men, ⁄ divinely inspired Chrysostom, ⁄ pouring forth teachings of salvation! [OCA]
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. [RSV]
You were enriched by the immaterial treasures of the Spirit ⁄ and you drew forth an ever-flowing stream of teachings ⁄ from the well-springs of salvation, venerable Father, ⁄ watering the face of all the Church. [OCA]
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. [RSV]
With the all-wise plowing of your preaching, ⁄ you cleared the stony fields of men’s souls, ⁄ wise and God-pleasing Chrysostom. ⁄ You made them fertile, watering them with heavenly showers. [OCA]

There was no blemish or impurity in you, O Virgin, ⁄ and you were shown to be a dwelling transcending heaven’s beauties, ⁄ for all the holiness of the virtues abides in you, ⁄ most immaculate one. [OCA]

Ἱλάσθητί μοι Σωτήρ.
Blessed are you when men revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely [for my sake]. [RSV]
As a fruitful preacher, you enriched the whole world with spiritual wisdom, ⁄ for rich grace poured through your lips from on high, O bishop. [OCA]
Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven. [RSV]
Your sound has gone out into all the earth like lightning, ⁄ and the power of your words has sounded in all the ends of the world, ⁄ like a blaring trumpet, O Chrysostom! [OCA]

The grace that from your mouth shone forth like a torch illumined the universe. It deposited in the world the treasures of the absence of avarice. It showed us the height that is attained by humility. Now you instruct us by your words, Father John Chrysostom. Intercede with Christ God, the Word himself, entreating Him to save our souls. [SD]

Kontakion.
Mode 4. You who were lifted.
Ὁ ὑψωθεὶς ἐν τῷ Σταυρῷ.
The Savior’s most pure and immaculate temple, the very precious bridal chamber and Virgin, who is the sacred treasure of the glory of God, on this day is introduced into the House of the Lord, and with herself she brings the grace in the divine Spirit. She is extolled by the Angels of God. A heavenly tabernacle is she. [SD]

Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us. (3)

The reading is from Paul’s Letter to the Hebrews.
Heb. 7:26 – 28; 8:1 – 2
Brethren, it was fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, blameless, unstained, separated from sinners, exalted above the heavens. He has no need, like those high priests, to offer sacrifices daily, first for his own sins and then for those of the people; he did this once for all when he offered up himself. Indeed, the law appoints men in their weakness as high priests, but the word of the oath, which came later than the law, appoints a Son who has been made perfect for ever. Now the point in what we are saying is this: we have such a high priest, one who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven, a minister in the sanctuary and the true tent which is set up not by man but by the Lord. Jn. 10:9 – 16
The Lord said, “I am the door; if any one enters by me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. He who is a hireling and not a shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf snatches them and scatters them. He flees because he is a hireling and cares nothing for the sheep. I am the good shepherd; I know my own and my own know me, as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep. And I have other sheep, that are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will heed my voice. So there shall be one flock, one shepherd.” [RSV]
Hymn to the Theotokos.
It is truly right to bless you, Theotokos, ever blessed, most pure, and Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, without corruption you gave birth to God the Logos. We magnify you, the true Theotokos.

We have seen the true light; we have received the heavenly Spirit; we have found the true faith, worshiping the undivided Trinity, for the Trinity has saved us.
DISMISSAL
Glory to You, O Christ our God. Glory to You.
May Christ our true God, through the intercessions of His all-pure and all-immaculate holy Mother, the power of the precious and life-giving Cross, the protection of the honorable, bodiless powers of heaven, the supplications of the honorable, glorious prophet and forerunner John the Baptist, of the holy, glorious, and praiseworthy apostles, of the holy, glorious, and triumphant martyrs, of our righteous and God-bearing fathers, (local patron saint); of the holy and righteous ancestors of God Joachim and Anna, our father among the saints John Chrysostom, Archbishop of Constantinople, whose memory we celebrate; and of all the saints, have mercy on us and save us, as He is good, benevolent, and merciful God.
Fasting Rule
Wine: Wine and oil are allowed. Refrain from meat, fish, dairy, and eggs.
It is a minor feast.
