The Readings from the Regular Cycle

Waraka

The Epistle

Tuesday of the 19th Week

Tuesday of the 19th Week

Somo kutoka kwa Paul’s Letter to the Philippians.

The reading is from Paul’s Letter to the Philippians.

Phil. 1:8 – 14

Phil. 1:8 – 14

Brethren, God is my witness, how I yearn for you all with the affection of Christ Jesus. And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruits of righteousness which come through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. I want you to know, brethren, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel, so that it has become known throughout the whole praetorium and to all the rest that my imprisonment is for Christ; and most of the brethren have been made confident in the Lord because of my imprisonment, and are much more bold to speak the word without fear. [RSV]

INJILI

The Gospel

Tuesday of the 7th Week of Luke

Tuesday of the 7th Week of Luke

Injili Takatifu kama ilivyoandikwa na Luke.

The reading is from the holy Gospel according to Luke.

Lk. 11:34 – 41

Lk. 11:34 – 41

The Lord said, “Your eye is the lamp of your body; when your eye is sound, your whole body is full of light; but when it is not sound, your body is full of darkness. Therefore be careful lest the light in you be darkness. If then your whole body is full of light, having no part dark, it will be wholly bright, as when a lamp with its rays gives you light.” While he was speaking, a Pharisee asked him to dine with him; so he went in and sat at table. The Pharisee was astonished to see that he did not first wash before dinner. And the Lord said to him, “Now you Pharisees cleanse the outside of the cup and of the dish, but inside you are full of extortion and wickedness. You fools! Did not he who made the outside make the inside also? But give for alms those things which are within and behold, everything is clean for you.” [RSV]
