Tuesday of the 18th Week
Tuesday of the 18th Week
Somo kutoka kwa Paul’s Letter to the Ephesians.
The reading is from Paul’s Letter to the Ephesians.
Eph. 5:20 – 25
Eph. 5:20 – 25
Brethren, always and for everything give thanks in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God the Father. Be subject to one another out of reverence for Christ. Wives, be subject to your husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. As the church is subject to Christ, so let wives also be subject in everything to their husbands. Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her. [RSV]

INJILI
The Gospel
Tuesday of the 6th Week of Luke
Tuesday of the 6th Week of Luke
Injili Takatifu kama ilivyoandikwa na Luke.
The reading is from the holy Gospel according to Luke.
Lk. 11:1 – 10
Lk. 11:1 – 10
At that time, Jesus was praying in a certain place, and when he ceased, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.” And he said to them, “When you pray, say: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us each day our daily bread; and forgive us our sins, for we ourselves forgive every one who is indebted to us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’” And he said to them, “Which of you who has a friend will go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves; for a friend of mine has arrived on a journey, and I have nothing to set before him’; and he will answer from within, ‘Do not bother me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot get up and give you anything’? I tell you, though he will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him whatever he needs. And I tell you, Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For every one who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.” [RSV]

The Epistle
Kwa Watakatifu
For the Saint.
Somo kutoka kwa Paul’s Letter to the Hebrews.
The reading is from Paul’s Letter to the Hebrews.
Heb. 7:26 – 28; 8:1 – 2
Heb. 7:26 – 28; 8:1 – 2
Brethren, it was fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, blameless, unstained, separated from sinners, exalted above the heavens. He has no need, like those high priests, to offer sacrifices daily, first for his own sins and then for those of the people; he did this once for all when he offered up himself. Indeed, the law appoints men in their weakness as high priests, but the word of the oath, which came later than the law, appoints a Son who has been made perfect for ever. Now the point in what we are saying is this: we have such a high priest, one who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven, a minister in the sanctuary and the true tent which is set up not by man but by the Lord. [RSV]
