O believers, let us praise the protector of the Orthodox, the God-bearing miracle-worker lately appearing to us, the incarnate angel, divine Gerasimos. For he has rightly received from God the ever-flowing grace of performing healings. He strengthens those with diseases and he heals those with demons. And therefore he pours out healings to those who honor him. [SD]

Blessed are You, O Lord, teach me Your statutes.
When the hosts of the Angels saw how You were accounted among the dead, they all marveled. You, O Savior, are the One who destroyed the might of death; and when You arose You raised Adam with yourself and from Hades liberated everyone. [SD]
Blessed are You, O Lord, teach me Your statutes.
“Why do you mingle the ointments with your tears full of pity, O women disciples?” Thus the Angel who was shining in the tomb cried to the myrrh-bearing women. “See for yourselves the empty tomb and understand, that the Savior has risen from the sepulcher.”
Blessed are You, O Lord, teach me Your statutes.
Very early in the morning, the myrrh-bearing women were hastening to Your tomb lamenting. But the Angel appeared to them and uttered, “The time for lamentation has ended; weep no more. Go announce the Resurrection to the Apostles.”
Blessed are You, O Lord, teach me Your statutes.
When the myrrh-bearing women had come with their spices to Your sepulcher, O Savior, they heard the voice of an Angel clearly speaking to them, “Why do you account among the dead the One who lives? For as God, He has risen from the sepulcher.”

Oikos.
As a newly shining star rising mystically on the Church of Christ, O holy one, you have shown by the flashes of your virtues and the light of your miracles that the effulgence of Orthodoxy shines on all more brilliantly than the sun. You mortified the mind set on the flesh through a life of ascetic endeavor, and you strove with great longing to emulate the devout monastic saints of old. Therefore you were deified by participation, and you gained the wealth of divine gifts, and received the power to do miracles. And by the illustriousness of your fine qualities, you teach all to aspire to things superior. And now, the Island of Cephalonia, hallowed by your ascetic struggles, holds the treasure of your relic as God-given wealth and a treasury of divine grace, and is thereby delivered from every tribulation, and for this reason praises you unceasingly. While the entire Orthodox Church of Christ, also boasting in you, remains steadfast and unshaken, and puts to shame the nonsense of heretics, and in gladness cries out to you: Rejoice, O glory of holy monks, Gerasimos. Luke. 24:36 – 53
At that time, Jesus, having risen from the dead, stood in the midst of his disciples and said to them, “Peace to you!” But they were startled and frightened, and supposed that they saw a spirit. And he said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do questionings rise in your hearts? See my hands and feet, that it is I myself; handle me, and see; for a spirit has not flesh and bones as you see that I have.” And when he said this, he showed them his hands and his feet. And while they still disbelieved for joy, and wondered, he said to them, “Have you anything here to eat?” They gave him a piece of broiled fish and some honeycomb, and he took it and ate before them. Then he said to them, “These are my words which I spoke to you, while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the law of Moses and the prophets and the psalms must be fulfilled.” Then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures, and said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be preached in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. And behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you; but stay in the city of Jerusalem, until you are clothed with power from on high.” Then he led them out as far as Bethany, and lifting up his hands, he blessed them. While he blessed them, he parted from them, and was carried up into heaven. And they worshiped him, and they returned to Jerusalem with great joy, and were continually in the temple praising and blessing God. Amen. [RSV]

Mode 2. (or the Mode of the week)
Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your great mercy; and according to the abundance of Your compassion, blot out my transgression.
Wash me thoroughly from my lawlessness and cleanse me from my sin.
For I know my lawlessness, and my sin is always before me.
Against You only have I sinned and done evil in Your sight; that You may be justified in Your words, and overcome when You are judged.
For behold, I was conceived in transgressions, and in sins my mother bore me.
Behold, You love truth; You showed me the unknown and secret things of Your wisdom.
You shall sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be cleansed; You shall wash me, and I will be made whiter than snow.
You shall make me hear joy and gladness; my bones that were humbled shall greatly rejoice.
Turn Your face from my sins, and blot out all my transgressions.
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.
Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me with Your guiding Spirit.
I will teach transgressors Your ways, and the ungodly shall turn back to You.
Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, the God of my salvation, and my tongue shall greatly rejoice in Your righteousness.
O Lord, You shall open my lips, and my mouth will declare Your praise.
For if You desired sacrifice, I would give it; You will not be pleased with whole burnt offerings.
A sacrifice to God is a broken spirit, a broken and humbled heart God will not despise.
Do good, O Lord, in Your good pleasure to Zion, and let the walls of Jerusalem be built.
Then You will be pleased with a sacrifice of righteousness, with offerings and whole burnt offerings.
Then shall they offer young bulls on Your altar. And have mercy on me, O God. [SAAS]

Mode pl. 4.
To fulfill among them the written judgment: this glory have all His holy ones. [SAAS]
Lord, even though You were standing at The Pavement * and Pontius Pilate was judging You, * still You were seated with the Father * on the throne, from which You never left. * And when You rose from the dead * as God, in Your benevolence, * You freed the world from the devil’s bondage, * as our Savior most compassionate. [GOASD]
Mode pl. 4.
Praise God in His saints; praise Him in the firmament of His power. [SAAS]
Lord, even though You were buried as a mortal * in a sepulcher by Jewish men, * yet a guard of soldiers was watching * over You as though a sleeping king. * As the treasure house of life, * they made it secure with a seal. * But You rose, and You have granted * our souls incorruptibility. [GOASD]
Mode pl. 4.
Praise Him for His mighty acts; praise Him according to the abundance of His greatness. [SAAS]
Lord, You have given us Your Cross as a weapon * against the devil, our enemy. * He is gripped with fear and he trembles, * for he cannot bear to see its might, * because it raises the dead; * it neutralized the power of death. * Therefore we worship You and honor * Your burial and resurrection. [GOASD]
Mode pl. 4.
Praise Him with the sound of trumpet; praise Him with the harp and lyre. [SAAS]
Your Angel, who announced Your resurrection, * on the one hand frightened * the soldiers guarding Your tomb, O Lord, * on the other hand he said to the women, * “Why do you seek the living among the dead? * As God, He has risen, * and He has granted life to the entire world.” [GOASD]

Mode pl. 4. What a paradoxal.
Ὢ τοῦ παραδόξου.
Praise Him with timbrel and dance; praise Him with strings and flute. [SAAS]
Ven’rable father Gerasimos, * moved by your heavenly love * you forsook every interest * in the vain delights of earth * and the pleasures and ease of the flesh. * Henceforth you followed behind the Savior Christ, * and like an angel, so did you live on earth. * How great your struggles were! * through which in abundance you were filled with gifts, * of the Holy Spirit’s grace, * as one inspired by God. [SD]
Praise Him with resounding cymbals; praise Him with triumphant cymbals; let everything that breathes praise the Lord. [SAAS]
Ven’rable father Gerasimos, * from earthly things you withdrew, * thus appearing superior * to all things corruptible * with a mind-set inspired by God. * Your journey took you through many cities and lands, * earnestly pressing on toward the goal of the * prize of the upward call, * which in winning you attained the height of all * things desired, and you were by adoption deified. [SD]
Verse: Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His holy one. [SAAS]
O godly father Gerasimos, * having been sent out by God * as a heavenly blessed man, * you went to the Island of * the devout Cephalonians. * And with your blessings you filled it, holy one, * and then you founded your Monastery there, * wherein the nuns today * stand around your relic with utmost respect, * chanting hymns extolling your superiorities. [SD]
Verse: Blessed is the man who fears the Lord; he will delight exceedingly in His commandments. [SAAS]
O blessed father Gerasimos, * Kefallinia claims you * as her own earnest patron saint, * protector and guardian, * and she gaily rejoices in * your many wonders and ever falls before * your relic ardently crying unto you: * Just as you formerly * rescued us, O Saint of God, so likewise now, * and forever guard this land that was allotted to you. [SD]

Glory. Mode pl. 2.
Eothinon 6.
O Christ, the true peace of God to humanity, when You gave Your peace to the disciples, after the resurrection, they were frightened and thought that they were seeing a ghost. But You quieted their troubled souls by showing them Your hands and Your feet. And while they still disbelieved, You ate the food and reminded them of the teachings, and then You opened their minds to understand the scriptures. Then You affirmed the promise of the Father, and while You blessed them, You departed for heaven. And now, as they did then, we worship You, O Lord. Glory to You! [GOASD]
Both now. Theotokion.
You are supremely blessed, O Virgin Theotokos. For through Him who from you became incarnate, Hades has been captured, and Adam has been called back; the curse has been killed, and Eve has been freed; death has been put to death, and we have been brought back to life. Therefore we extol Him and cry out, “O Christ our God, You are blessed, for so was Your good pleasure. Glory to You!” [GOASD]
