Verse 1: Give thanks to the Lord and call upon His holy name.

Verse 2: All the nations surrounded me, but in the name of the Lord I defended myself against them.

Τῆς Σκέπης σου Παρθένε, ἀνυμνοῦμεν τὰς χαρίτας, ἣν ὡς φωτοφόρον νεφέλην, ἐφαπλοῖς ὑπὲρ ἔννοιαν, καὶ σκέπεις τὸν λαόν σου νοερῶς, ἐκ πάσης τῶν ἐχθρῶν ἐπιβουλῆς. Σὲ γὰρ σκέπην καὶ προστάτιν καὶ βοηθόν, κεκτήμεθα βοῶντές σοι· Δόξα τοῖς μεγαλείοις σου Ἁγνή, δόξα τῇ θείᾳ Σκέπῃ σου, δόξα τῇ πρὸς ἡμᾶς σου, προμηθείᾳ Ἄχραντε.

O Virgin, we sing praises of the gifts of your protection, * which you have extended like a bright cloud ineffably, * invisibly protecting us your flock * from enemy invasions and attacks. * We have you as ardent helper and mighty guard, * and therefore we cry out to you: * Glory to your divinely mighty deeds! * Glory to your protective veil! * Glory to the care you have for us, O immaculate one! Θεοτόκε Ἀειπάρθενε, τὴν ἁγίαν σοῦ Σκέπην, διʼ ἧς περισκέπεις, τοὺς εἰς σὲ ἐλπίζοντας, κραταιὰν τῷ Ἔθνει σου καταφυγὴν ἐδωρήσω· ὅτι ὡς πάλαι καὶ νῦν θαυμαστῶς ἡμᾶς ἔσωσας, ὡς νοητὴ νεφέλη, τὸν σὸν λαὸν περιβαλοῦσα. Διὸ δυσωποῦμεν σε, εἰρήνην τῇ πολιτείᾳ σου δώρησαι, καὶ ταῖς ψυχαῖς ἡμῶν τὸ μέγα ἔλεος.

Ever-virgin Theotokos, your holy protection, * by which you give shelter to those who rely on you, * is a mighty refuge that you gave to your Christian people; * for you have wondrously saved us, even now as in the past. * You are as if a spiritual cloud surrounding your people. * And therefore we earnestly implore you to inspire peace in our government, * and also on our souls bestow the great mercy. Τῆς παναγίας, ἀχράντου, ὑπερευλογημένης, ἐνδόξου, δεσποίνης ἡμῶν, Θεοτόκου καὶ ἀειπαρθένου Μαρίας μετὰ πάντων τῶν ἁγίων μνημονεύσαντες, ἑαυτοὺς καὶ ἀλλήλους καὶ πᾶσαν τὴν ζωὴν ἡμῶν Χριστῷ τῷ Θεῷ παραθώμεθα.

Remembering our all-holy, immaculate, most blessed, and glorious Lady, the Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary, with all the saints, let us commend ourselves and one another and our whole life to Christ our God.

Ἐξέστη ὡς ἔβλεψεν, ἐν Βλαχερνῶν τῷ ναῷ, Ἀνδρέας ὁ Ὅσιος, σὲ ἐφαπλούσαν ἡμῖν, τὴν θείαν Ἐσθῆτά σου, οὖσαν ἐκεῖσε Κόρη, ἱερῶς τηρουμένην, πᾶσι δὲ φανεροῦσαν, τῆς σῆς σκέπης τὴν χάριν, διʼ ἧς σκέπεις καὶ σῴζεις ἡμᾶς πάσης θλίψεως.

St. Andrew the fool for Christ of old was praying in church, * where your divine veil and garment had been reverently kept; * and he was amazed to see * how you had held your garment over all who were praying. * Thus you revealed the grace of your all-holy protection, * by which you protect and save us in every adversity. Your all-holy and wondrous protective veil * was prefigured in Exodus by the cloud. * Unfolding it every day, you surround the believers all, * who look to you, O Lady, for help in their time of need, * and who rely on you and your goodness continually. * Help us, O all-holy Theotokos, subduing * the madness our enemies have against us who sing the praise * of your glorious miracles. * Intercede with your Son and our God, that He grant forgiveness of offenses * to us who lovingly celebrate your glowing protective veil. [GOASD]

From my youth, many passions war against me. O my Savior, I implore You, uphold me and save me. [GOASD] (2)

Οἱ μισοῦντες Σιών, αἰσχύνθητε ἀπὸ τοῦ Κυρίου· ὡς χόρτος γάρ, πυρὶ ἔσεσθε ἀπεξηραμμένοι. (δίς)

You who hate Zion, be shamed by the Lord; for you will be withered like grass in the fire. [GOASD] (2)

Ἁγίῳ Πνεύματι πᾶσα ψυχὴ ζωοῦται, καὶ καθάρσει ὑψοῦται, λαμπρύνεται, τῇ τριαδικῇ μονάδι ἱεροκρυφίως.

By the Holy Spirit every soul is animated, and when purified, it is mystically uplifted and brightened by the triune Godhead. [GOASD]

Ἁγίῳ Πνεύματι, ἀναβλύζει τὰ τῆς χάριτος ῥεῖθρα, ἀρδεύοντα, ἅπασαν τὴν κτίσιν πρὸς ζωογονίαν.

From the Holy Spirit the streams of grace well forth; they water all creation, so that life be engendered. [GOASD]

In those days, Mary arose and went with haste into the hill country, to a city of Judah, and she entered the house of Zacharias and greeted Elizabeth. And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit and she exclaimed with a loud cry, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! And why is this granted me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For behold, when the voice of your greeting came to my ears, the babe in my womb leaped for joy. And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord.” And Mary said, “My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has regarded the low estate of his handmaiden. For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed; for he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name.” And Mary remained with her about three months, and returned to her home.
