God is the Lord, and He revealed Himself to us. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. [SAAS]

Στίχ. αʹ. Ἐξομολογεῖσθε τῷ Κυρίῳ καὶ ἐπικαλεῖσθε τὸ ὄνομα τὸ ἅγιον αὐτοῦ.

Verse 1: Give thanks to the Lord and call upon His holy name.

Στίχ. βʹ. Πάντα τὰ ἔθνη ἐκύκλωσάν με, καὶ τῷ ὀνόματι Κυρίου ἠμυνάμην αὐτούς.

Verse 2: All the nations surrounded me, but in the name of the Lord I defended myself against them.

Στίχ. γʹ. Παρὰ Κυρίου ἐγένετο αὕτη καὶ ἔστι θαυμαστὴ ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς ἡμῶν.

Τὸν συνάναρχον Λόγον Πατρὶ καὶ Πνεύματι, τὸν ἐκ Παρθένου τεχθέντα εἰς σωτηρίαν ἡμῶν, ἀνυμνήσωμεν πιστοὶ καὶ προσκυνήσωμεν· ὅτι ηὐδόκησε σαρκί, ἀνελθεῖν ἐν τῷ Σταυρῷ, καὶ θάνατον ὑπομεῖναι, καὶ ἐγεῖραι τοὺς τεθνεῶτας, ἐν τῇ ἐνδόξῳ ἀναστάσει αὐτοῦ.

As the Father and Spirit are unoriginate, * so the Word, who was born from the Virgin for us. * Let us praise Him, O believers, and let us worship Him. * For our salvation He was pleased * to be crucified in the flesh, * and to undergo death, * and to resurrect the dead, by His glorious resurrection. Remembering our all-holy, immaculate, most blessed, and glorious Lady, the Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary, with all the saints, let us commend ourselves and one another and our whole life to Christ our God.

Τὸν Σταυρὸν τοῦ Κυρίου ἐγκωμιάσωμεν, τὴν ταφὴν τὴν ἁγίαν ὕμνοις τιμήσωμεν, καὶ τὴν ἀνάστασιν αὐτοῦ ὑπερδοξάσωμεν· ὅτι συνήγειρε νεκρούς, ἐκ τῶν μνημάτων ὡς Θεός, σκυλεύσας κράτος θανάτου, καὶ ἰσχὺν διαβόλου, καὶ τοῖς ἐν ᾅδῃ φῶς ἀνέτειλε.

Let us honor the Cross of the Lord with solemn praise. * Let us sing hymns extolling His holy burial. * Let us highly glorify His resurrection from the dead. * For, being God, He raised the dead from the graves with himself. * He shined light on those in Hades, annihilating the power of death and the devil’s might. Κύριε, μετὰ τὴν τριήμερόν σου ἀνάστασιν, καὶ τὴν τῶν Ἀποστόλων προσκύνησιν, ὁ Πέτρος ἐβόα σοι· Γυναῖκες ἀπετόλμησαν, κᾀγὼ ἐδειλίασα· Λῃστὴς ἐθεολόγησε, κᾀγὼ ἠρνησάμην σε· ἆρα καλέσεις με τοῦ λοιποῦ μαθητήν; ἢ πάλιν δείξεις με ἁλιέα βυθοῦ; ἀλλὰ μετανοοῦντά με δέξαι, ὁ Θεὸς καὶ σῶσόν με.

After You had risen on the third day, O Lord, and the Apostles had worshiped You, Peter said to You, “The women were courageous, but I was afraid. The robber stated Your divinity, but I denied knowing You. Will You ever call me Your disciple again, or will you send me back to be a fisher of the sea? I pray You to receive me in repentance, O God, and save me.” [GOASD]

Τῶν Ἀγγέλων ὁ δῆμος, κατεπλάγη ὁρῶν σε, ἐν νεκροῖς λογισθέντα, τοῦ θανάτου δὲ Σωτήρ, τὴν ἰσχὺν καθελόντα, καὶ σὺν ἑαυτῷ τὸν Ἀδὰμ ἐγείραντα, καὶ ἐξ ᾍδου πάντας ἐλευθερώσαντα.

When the hosts of the Angels saw how You were accounted among the dead, they all marveled. You, O Savior, are the One who destroyed the might of death; and when You arose You raised Adam with yourself and from Hades liberated everyone. [SD]

“Why do you mingle the ointments with your tears full of pity, O women disciples?” Thus the Angel who was shining in the tomb cried to the myrrh-bearing women. “See for yourselves the empty tomb and understand, that the Savior has risen from the sepulcher.”

Λίαν πρωΐ, Μυροφόροι ἔδραμον, πρὸς τὸ μνῆμά σου θρηνολογοῦσαι· ἀλλʼ ἐπέστη, πρὸς αὐτὰς ὁ Ἄγγελος, καὶ εἶπε· θρήνου ὁ καιρὸς πέπαυται, μὴ κλαίετε, τὴν Ἀνάστασιν δέ, Ἀποστόλοις εἴπατε.

Very early in the morning, the myrrh-bearing women were hastening to Your tomb lamenting. But the Angel appeared to them and uttered, “The time for lamentation has ended; weep no more. Go announce the Resurrection to the Apostles.”

Εὐλογητὸς εἶ, Κύριε, δίδαξόν με τὰ δικαιώματά σου.

Blessed are You, O Lord, teach me Your statutes.

Μυροφόροι γυναῖκες, μετὰ μύρων ἐλθοῦσαι, πρὸς τὸ μνῆμά σου, Σῶτερ ἐνηχοῦντο. Ἀγγέλου τρανῶς, πρὸς αὐτὰς φθεγγομένου· Τί μετὰ νεκρῶν, τὸν ζώντα λογίζεσθε; ὡς Θεὸς γάρ, ἐξανέστη τοῦ μνήματος.

When the myrrh-bearing women had come with their spices to Your sepulcher, O Savior, they heard the voice of an Angel clearly speaking to them, “Why do you account among the dead the One who lives? For as God, He has risen from the sepulcher.”

We bow down in worship to the Father and His Son and the Holy Spirit, the Holy Trinity, one in essence; and we cry aloud with the Seraphim: Holy, Holy, Holy are You, O Lord.

Ζωοδότην τεκοῦσα, ἐλυτρώσω Παρθένε, τὸν Ἀδὰμ ἁμαρτίας, χαρμονὴν δὲ τῇ Εὔᾳ, ἀντὶ λύπης παρέσχες, ῥεύσαντα ζωῆς, ἴθυνε πρὸς ταύτην δέ, ὁ ἐκ σοῦ σαρκωθείς Θεὸς καὶ ἄνθρωπος.

Giving birth to the Giver of life, O Virgin, you delivered Adam from sin, and to Eve you have rendered joy in place of sorrow. He who from you became incarnate, God and man, has directed to life him who fell from it.

Ἀγγελικῇ ὁράσει τὸν νοῦν ἐκθαμβούμεναι, καὶ θεϊκῇ ἐγέρσει τὴν ψυχὴν φωτιζόμεναι, αἱ Μυροφόροι τοῖς Ἀποστόλοις εὐηγγελίζοντο· Ἀναγγείλατε ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσι, τὴν ἀνάστασιν τοῦ Κυρίου, συνεργοῦντος τοῖς θαύμασι, καὶ παρέχοντος ἡμῖν τὸ μέγα ἔλεος.

Mentally amazed by the angelic apparition, inwardly illumined by the divine resurrection, the Myrrh-bearing Women brought good tidings to the Apostles. “Proclaim the resurrection of the Lord among the Gentiles, as He works with you by signs and miracles, and He grants to us the great mercy.” [GOASD]

Ἐν τῷ θλίβεσθαί με δαυϊτικῶς, ᾄδω σοι Σωτήρ μου· Ῥῦσαί μου τὴν ψυχὴν ἐκ γλώσσης δολίας.

In my affliction, like David, I sing to You, my Savior. Deliver my soul from a deceitful tongue. [GOASD]

Τοῖς ἐρημικοῖς, ζωὴ μακαρία ἐστί, θεϊκῷ ἔρωτι πτερουμένοις.

Blessed is the life of those who dwell in the desert, as they mount up with wings of the intense love of God. [GOASD]

Ἁγίῳ Πνεύματι, περικρατεῖται πάντα τὰ ὁρατά τε, σὺν τοῖς ἀοράτοις· αὐτοκρατὲς γὰρ ὄν, τῆς Τριάδος ἕν ἐστιν ἀψεύστως.

By the Holy Spirit are all things maintained, both seen and unseen; for He is inseparably one of the Trinity with full authority. [GOASD]

Εἰς τὰ ὄρη ψυχὴ ἀρθῶμεν· δεῦρο ἐκεῖσε, ὅθεν βοήθεια ἥκει.

O my soul, let us be lifted to the mountains. Come to the One, from whom help comes. [GOASD]

Δεξιά σου χεὶρ κᾀμέ, Χριστὲ ἱπταμένη, σκαιωρίας πάσης περιφυλαξάτω.

O Christ, let Your soaring right hand keep me from every kind of mischief. [GOASD]

Ἁγίῳ Πνεύματι, θεολογοῦντες φῶμεν· Σὺ εἶ Θεός, ζωή, ἔρως, φῶς, νοῦς, σὺ χρηστότης, σὺ βασιλεύεις εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας.

To the Holy Spirit we say, theologizing, “You are God, life and intense love, light and mind. You are goodness, and You reign forever.” [GOASD]

Ἐπὶ τοῖς εἰρηκόσι μοι· Εἰς τὰς αὐλὰς προσβῶμεν Κυρίου· χαρᾶς πολλῆς πλησθείς, εὐχὰς ἀναπέμπω.

When they say to me, “Let us go into the courts of the Lord,” I am filled with great joy, and I send up my prayers. [GOASD]

Ἐπὶ οἶκον Δαυΐδ, τὰ φοβερὰ τελεσιουργεῖται· πῦρ γὰρ ἐκεῖ φλέγον, ἅπαντα αἰσχρὸν νοῦν.

Over the house of David fearful things will be accomplished; a fire will be there, burning every shameful thought. [GOASD]

When Jesus rose early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom he had cast out seven demons. She went out and told those who had been with him, as they mourned and wept. But when they heard that he was alive and had been seen by her, they would not believe it. After this he appeared in another form to two of them, as they were walking into the country. And they went back and told the rest, but they did not believe them. Afterward he appeared to the eleven themselves as they sat at table; and he upbraided them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they had not believed those who saw him after he had risen. And he said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to the whole creation. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.” So then the Lord, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God. For behold, I was conceived in transgressions, and in sins my mother bore me.

Behold, You love truth; You showed me the unknown and secret things of Your wisdom.

O Lord, You shall open my lips, and my mouth will declare Your praise.

For if You desired sacrifice, I would give it; You will not be pleased with whole burnt offerings.

Θυσία τῷ Θεῷ πνεῦμα συντετριμμένον· καρδίαν συντετριμμένην καὶ τεταπεινωμένην ὁ Θεὸς οὐκ ἐξουδενώσει.

A sacrifice to God is a broken spirit, a broken and humbled heart God will not despise.

Ἀγάθυνον, Κύριε, ἐν τῇ εὐδοκίᾳ σου τὴν Σιών, καὶ οἰκοδομηθήτω τὰ τείχη Ἰερουσαλήμ.

Do good, O Lord, in Your good pleasure to Zion, and let the walls of Jerusalem be built.

Then You will be pleased with a sacrifice of righteousness, with offerings and whole burnt offerings.

Πρὸς Χριστοῦ δεδεγμένος, τὴν ἀκαταμάχητον χάριν τοῦ Πνεύματος, καταβέβληκας μέν, κατὰ κράτος δεινοὺς κοσμοκράτορας, ψυχικῶν παθῶν δέ, Κυριακὲ ἐπικρατήσας, ἀπαθείας στεφάνῳ κατέστεψαι.

O Kyriakos, you mightily dethroned the wicked rulers of the world after receiving the invisible grace of the Spirit from Christ. You dominated the passions of the soul, and you received the crown of dispassion. [un]

Ῥωμαλέος ἐδείχθης, πόνοις τῆς ἀσκήσεως, ἐγκαρτερήσας στεῤῥῶς, μέχρι γήρως μείνας, βαθυτάτου ἀνένδοτος Ὅσιε, ἐν ἐρήμοις ὥσπερ, βασιλικῶν αὐλῶν θαλάμοις, σὺν πολλῇ χαρμονῇ διαιτώμενος.

O righteous Father, in firmness and strength you persevered in the pains of asceticism. You stayed consistent until deep old age. You ended your life full of joy in deserts as though you lived in royal mansions. [un]

Ὁλονύκτους ἀνύων, Μάκαρ ἀγρυπνίας, πρὸς τὸν Θεὸν ἐκδημῶν, ἀμετεωρίστως, διʼ εὐχῆς τῷ ἀΰλῳ ὡμίλεις Νοΐ, καὶ λαμπρὰς ἐδέχου, Κυριακὲ φωτὸς ἀκτῖνας, φεγγοβόλους τὸν νοῦν ἐλλαμπόμενος.

O blessed Kyriakos, you spent entire nights in vigil. Through prayer you talked with the immaterial mind when you went out to God without distraction. You received the bright and illuminating rays of light with a mind that had become enlightened. [un]

O immaculate Virgin, the assembly of the Prophets was noetically brought into the mysteries about you. The Lord showed you to be the gate of Heaven. The Sun of Righteousness took on flesh from you and rose upon those in darkness. [un]

Θεὸς θετὸς γεγονώς, Χριστοῦ θεώσει τοῦ φύσει Θεοῦ, τῆς φύσεως ἀλγεινάς, πηρώσεις ἀνώρθωσας, νοσοῦντας ἰώμενος, δαιμονῶντας αὖθις, θεραπεύων θείᾳ χάριτι.

O Saint, you became like God by adoption through theosis in Christ, Who is God by nature. You corrected the sorrowful impairments of nature. By divine grace you healed the wounded and even cured those were possessed by demons. [un]

Ἐξέφυγες τοῦ πρὸς σὲ, φοιτῶντος πλήθους τὴν ὄχλησιν, καὶ πάλιν τοὺς φοβερούς, χειμάῤῥους κατέλαβες, ἐκκλίνων, ἀοίδιμε, τῶν κενῶν ἐπαίνων, ἀνθρώπων τὸ δοξάριον.

O celebrated Kyriakos, you fled from the noise of the crowd who approached you. You returned to the terrifying ravines, for you rejected the vain glory of empty praise from men. [un]

Ὀνείρου δίκην φθαρτοῦ, τοῦ κόσμου πᾶσαν τὴν δόξαν ὁρῶν, τοῦ νόμου ζῶντος Θεοῦ, τῆς δόξης τῆς κρείττονος, ἐπόθησας μέτοχος, σοφὲ χρηματίσαι, ἧς ἐνδίκως κατηξίωσαι.

O wise Kyriakos, you considered all the glory of the earth as though it were a dream that ends. You desired to only partake of the higher glory of the living God, of which you were granted to be worthy. [un]

O Mother of God, you received the Logos without beginning as a living ark. You contained the Creator as a sacred sanctuary. You bore the Lord of all creation as a throne of fire. [un]

O godly-minded believers, come * and celebrate this sacred and venerable feast and thus extol * the Theotokos, and clap our hands, * and glorify our God who was truly born of her. [GOASD]

O blessed Kyriakos, you watered your holy soul with streams of tears and holy repentance, so that it would bear fruit. You sang: “O all you works, bless you the Lord, and supremely exalt Him unto the ages.” [un]
