The Readings from the Regular Cycle

Waraka

The Epistle

Saturday of the 6th Week

Saturday of the 6th Week

Somo kutoka kwa Paul’s Letter to the Romans.

The reading is from Paul’s Letter to the Romans.

Rom. 9:1 – 5

Rom. 9:1 – 5

Brethren, I am speaking the truth in Christ, I am not lying; my conscience bears me witness in the Holy Spirit, that I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. For I could wish that I myself were accursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my brethren, my kinsmen by race. They are Israelites, and to them belong the sonship, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises; to them belong the patriarchs, and of their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ, who is God over all, blessed for ever. Amen. [RSV]

INJILI

The Gospel

Saturday of the 6th Week of Matthew

Saturday of the 6th Week of Matthew

Injili Takatifu kama ilivyoandikwa na Matthew.

The reading is from the holy Gospel according to Matthew.

Mt. 9:18 – 26

Mt. 9:18 – 26

At that time, a ruler came and knelt before him, saying, “My daughter has just died; but come and lay your hand on her, and she will live.” And Jesus rose and followed him, with his disciples. And behold, a woman who had suffered from a hemorrhage for twelve years came up behind him and touched the fringe of his garment; for she said to herself, “If I only touch his garment, I shall be made well.” Jesus turned, and seeing her he said, “Take heart, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And instantly the woman was made well. And when Jesus came to the ruler’s house, and saw the flute players, and the crowd making a tumult, he said, “Depart; for the girl is not dead but sleeping.” And they laughed at him. But when the crowd had been put outside, he went in and took her by the hand, and the girl arose. And the report of this went through all that district. [RSV]

The Readings for the Commemoration

Waraka

The Epistle

For the Devout Saints.

Somo kutoka kwa Paul’s Letter to the Galatians.

The reading is from Paul’s Letter to the Galatians.

Gal. 5:22 – 26; 6:1 – 2

Gal. 5:22 – 26; 6:1 – 2

Brethren, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. Let us have no self-conceit, no provoking of one another, no envy of one another. Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Look to yourself, lest you too be tempted. Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. [RSV]
