ON SUNDAY EVENING

At, Lord, I have cried, Prosomia.

Stichera for the Master.

Sauti ya 6.

Mode pl. 2. When the saints deposited.

You, O Word of God, do not desire the death but repentance * of all those who, like myself, * have committed sins against You, O Christ and Lord. * Being most compassionate, * You extend Your mercy * unto me Your servant constantly. * Hence show me sympathy * as I now repent and presume to seek * forgiveness for my wicked deeds, * by which I have often embittered You. * For if You should save me, * unworthy though I be, You shall disclose * in me the vastness of Your divine * mercies and benevolence. [SD]

Your will is that all be saved, O most benevolent Master. * Being most compassionate, * You call to repentance those who offended You. * Hence I pray You, O Lord, * by no means remember * the disgrace of the indecent deeds, * which I the wretched one * woefully committed before Your eyes, * not shuddering with horror that nobody escapes Your almighty hands. * Therefore on my knees now, * I fall down and I sigh and I lament, * mentally clasping Your holy feet * to receive forgiveness from You. [SD]

Additional Stichera. For the Angels. Same Melody.

The angelic choirs sing to You with unceasing voices * festal hymns eternally * glorifying You, O Lord most benevolent. * Lucidly they can see Your most handsome beauty. * Permeated with Your radiance, * they never vacillate, never tend toward things inferior, * but rather looking up they move steadily towards what is higher yet. * As they are receiving with gratitude the blessed rays of light, * they intercede with great confidence, praying on behalf of our souls. [GOASD]

Dominions, Authorities, * the Seraphim and Archangels, * Angels and immaculate * Cherubim as well as Thrones * overcome with awe * all attend Your sublime * and most venerated * throne and holy glory with respect. * And all the Powers too, * with the Principalities, glorify * Your wonderful magnificence * and Your inexpressible providence, * and they are amazed by * Your wisdom in the things that are, O Christ. * And on behalf of our souls do they * intercede with confidence. [SD]

Utukufu. Sasa. Wimbo wa Mzazi-Mungu

Glory. Both now. Theotokion. Same Melody.

Knowingly I slipped and fell, * and the deceiver enslaved me * by his tricks, O Bride of God. * I the wholly wretched one * run for refuge now * to your most wonderful mercy and compassion, and your fervent prayer, all-holy Maid, * release me from the bonds and from my temptations and troubles all, * and save me, O all-blameless one, * from every demonic assault on me, * and I shall with longing revere you, glorify you, and extol * and magnify you, whom all now call * blessed Lady evermore. [SD]

Prokimeno.

Prokeimenon. Mode pl. 4.

Behold now, bless the Lord, all you servants of the Lord.

Mstari

Verse: Who stand in the house of the Lord, in the courts of the house of our God. [SAAS]

At the Aposticha.

Sauti ya 6.

Aposticha. Mode pl. 2. For compunction.

O Master, I have not attained * repentance nor a faucet of tears. * O my Savior, I implore You and I pray: * Before the end convert me, * and grant to me repentance, * that I be freed from the future punishment. [GOASD]

Mstari

Verse: I lift my eyes to You, who dwell in heaven. Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hands of their masters, as the eyes of the maidservant look to the hands of her mistress, so our eyes look to the Lord our God until He shall have compassion on us. [SAAS]

At Your frightful second coming, O Christ, may we not hear You say: I know you not. For on You we set our hope, even if because of our negligence we do not perform Your commandments. O spare our souls, we fervently appeal to You. [SD]

Mstari

Verse: Have mercy on us, O Lord, have mercy on us, for we are greatly filled with contempt; our soul is greatly filled with it. We are a disgrace to those who prosper, and a contempt to the arrogant. [SAAS]

For the Martyrs.

Your Martyrs did not renounce You, O Lord, nor did they deviate from Your commandments. By their intercessions, have mercy on us. [SD]

Utukufu. Sasa. Wimbo wa Mzazi-Mungu

Glory. Both now. Theotokion.

O believers, let us extol archangelically the heavenly bridal chamber and the gate that was truly sealed: Rejoice, O Maiden, through whom to us sprouted forth the Savior of one and all, Christ the Giver of life and God. Strike down our enemies, the godless tyrants, with your hand, O immaculate Lady, the Christians’ hope. [SD]

ON MONDAY MORNING

MATINS

After the first Psalter reading, Kathismata.

Sauti ya 6.

For compunction. Mode pl. 2.

I think about that fearful day, and I lament my filthy deeds. How shall I argue in my own defense before the immortal King? How can I face the Judge with confidence, the prodigal that I am? O compassionate Father, only-begotten Son, and Holy Spirit, I implore, have mercy on me! [GOASD]

When You sit to pass righteous judgment, in the valley of weeping, in the place You appointed, O merciful Master, please do not make public the sins I committed in private, please do not embarrass me in the presence of the Angels. I beg You, spare me, O God, and have mercy on me! [GOASD]

Utukufu. Sasa. Wimbo wa Mzazi-Mungu

Glory. Both now. Theotokion. You are the good hope.

We run to you, who are our hope * and protection and haven, * and the defender of the world, * good Lady Theotokos. * Together with bodiless hosts earnestly pray * to the Son you bore, who is our God most humane, * to save our souls from every threat of danger and from harm, * only all-blessed Virgin. [SD]

After the second Psalter reading, Kathismata.

Utuhurumie, Ee Bwana, utuhurumie, kwa kuwa sisi ni watu wenye dhambi; hakuna teto lolote kukuletea ombi hili tunalokutolea, bali kama Bwana wa Mabwana utuhurumie. [[SWA]]

Have mercy on us, Lord have mercy on us. For with nothing to say in our own defense, we sinners offer this supplication to you our Master. Have mercy on us. [SD]

[[SWA]]

Lord have mercy on us, for in You we trust. Be not enraged with us greatly, nor remember our iniquities. But look upon us now, being compassionate, and deliver us from our enemies. For You are our God, and we Your people, all of us the work of Your hands, and now we have invoked Your name. [SD]

Utukufu. Sasa. Wimbo wa Mzazi-Mungu

Glory. Both now. Theotokion.

Gabriel’s salutation of the Virgin was the beginning of our salvation. For she heard him say, Rejoice, and did not reject the greeting. * She did not hesitate, like Sarah in the tent, but rather this is what she said, * “Behold the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” [SD]

After the third Psalter reading, Kathismata.

For compunction.

You are the good hope.

You are indifferent, my soul, * as you live out your whole life, * and you have never brought to mind * the frightful day of judgment. * Now get a grip of yourself and decide * to repent and return and pray to Christ, * “O compassionate Lord, remember not our many sins * in the hour of judgment.” [SD]

For the Martyrs.

Light always dawns for the righteous. The saints were illumined in You, and they shine like stars forever, and they extinguish the lamp of the impious. By their prayers, You will light my lamp, O Lord, and save me. [SD]

Utukufu. Sasa. Wimbo wa Mzazi-Mungu

Glory. Both now. Theotokion.

Let us extol the Mother of God, with never silent heart and mouth, for she is most glorious and holier than the holy Angels. And let us confess her to be Theotokos, for she literally gave birth to God incarnate. She unceasingly intercedes for our souls. [SD]

O Savior, heal the wounds of my heart, which have grown in me because of many sins, O physician of souls and bodies. As You ever grant forgiveness of offenses to those who ask, grant me tears of repentance, and give me the remission of my debts, O Lord, and have mercy on me. [SD]

Mstari Asubuhi tumejazwa na huruma yako, Ee Bwana; [[SWA]]

Verse: We were filled with Your mercy in the morning, and in all our days we greatly rejoiced and were glad; gladden us in return for the days You humbled us, for the years we saw evil things. And behold Your servants and Your works, and guide their sons. [SAAS]

The enemy found me naked of any virtues, so he shot me with the arrow of sin. But I pray You, the physician of souls and bodies, heal the wounds of my soul, and have mercy on me, O God. [SD]

Mstari Ubora wa Bwana Mungu wetu uwe juu yetu; atuongoze kwa kazi ya mikono yetu; hata kazi ya mikono yetu Aiongoze. [[SWA]]
